Landshut Prison was clearly subdivided into 3 building units, connected by a simple corridor system connecting the wings which serve the following purposes:
a) central multi-purpose functions
b) work areas
c) accommodation.
The disposition of the complex as a whole reflects the height of the local topography.
The residential units (3 x 2 x 3) were laid out at angles to one another, so that one guard room can monitor 2 residential units from a central position. At the same time, a line of sight from one guard room to another is ensured as well as the evacuation route for the neighbouring residential unit.
